She cracked one egg. One blood spot.
They call it “blood”; they call it “spotting.”
But it’s not like train or plane spotting.
And it’s not blood. In the white of the egg
it’s a chicken foetus. A human foetus
looks similar, for a while. It gains its gills
and tail, then loses them, evidence
of an empty space in the designer’s chair.
